Here Come Dots September 10, 2004

Somewhere in the vast recesses of my brain, I recall once reading that the term Morse Code was an anagram of here come dots. Try it for yourself if you don’t believe me.

Anagrams are not the sort of things I usually waste my time musing upon, they’re just coincidental ramblings that don’t mean much, or so I thought.

The following anagrams were brought to my attention today, and they make me wonder if perhaps anagrams aren’t so coincidental at all. See what you think:-

Mother-in-lawWoman Hitler

Okay, you’re thinking that this was just a lucky one. Besides my Mother-in-law is an angel so it doesn’t count. Well here is this one:-

A Decimal PointI’m a Dot in Place

Neat eh? And then there is:-

Eleven plus twoTwelve plus one

Slot MachinesCash Lost in’em

You’re impressed so far, I can tell, well then try these names on for size:-

Madame CurieMe, Radium ace

Clint EastwoodOld West action

Susan SarandonO no! Sans anus (some would say this sums her up nicely)

Charles Lutwidge DodgsonSelect odd words, laughing

Marie OsmondMormon ideas

Britney SpearsBray, siren pest

Naomi CampbellBlame, complain

At this point I was wondering if perhaps anagrams worked on some hidden order within the universe. Then I saw the following and I was convinced:–

Camilla Parker BowlesWorkable caramel lips

Finally, to satisfy the even the last of the doubting Thomases, I leave you with:-

Elvis - Lives

How can “Morse Code” be an anagram of “here come dots”
Where is the “h” in “Morse Code?”

I think the anagram should be;

The Morse Code = Here come dots
